Coach Discount


The head coach of each team will receive a 30% discount for their player's registration.


Head coaches are reimbursed at the end of the season after fulfilling their coaching commitment.


Only head coaches receive a registration discount.

Refund Policy


Participants may request a refund before the season begins. Refunds requested after the beginning of the season may be denied.


Refunds or adjustment of league fees will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Sporting Rec. League administration.


Administrative fees may apply.

Forming a Team


All registered players are assigned to a team for the season. During registration, you can either register an individual player or an entire team.


Player registering with a team will need to indicate their coach's name during registration. A player is only allowed to be rostered on one team per season.


Players that don't register with a team will be assigned to a team in their grade based on a combination of factors, including the school they attend, where they live and any special requests submitted during registration.


Registering a Team With Multiple Grades


If you're registering a team with players from different grades, you must register in the grade of the oldest player.


I.e., a team with Pre-K and Kindergarten players should register in the Kindergarten division.

Team Coaches


All teams are coached by parent volunteers. No previous experience is necessary and Sporting KC Youth Soccer will provide each coach with practice sessions, administrative support and guidance on coaching young players.


All coaches will be required to pass a background check and be SafeSport certified.

Jerseys


All returning participants (from Fall 2024) will utilize the same jersey as they did in the Spring.


All new players or players who change teams will receive a new adidas Sporting Rec. League jersey!


Jerseys sizes are given out based on age group. We will offer size exchanges when possible, but cannot guarantee them.

Practice Information


Pre-K


Pre-K teams do not practice during the week. Instead, they practice for 20 minutes before their scheduled game. For example, if your child has a 9am scheduled kick off: 9-9:20am – practice, 9:20-9:50am game.


Kindergarten through 2nd Grade


Kindergarten teams practice once (1) a week between Monday and Thursday for 45 minutes to one (1) hour. Practices take place between 5-8PM at the practice location chosen by the team's coach. There is no practice before their scheduled game.


First Grade and 2nd Grade teams practice once (1) a week between Monday and Thursday for one (1) hour. Practices take place between 5-8PM at the practice location chosen by the team's coach. There is no practice before their scheduled game.


The first practices of the season will begin the week of 3/17. The final practices of the season will be held the week of 5/12.


Scheduling Practices


The head coach of each Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade team will choose the practice location, day of the week and time.


Practice locations will include schools and parks in Olathe and Lenexa. These locations will offer families and coaches a convenient practice location.
